Meet Owner and Instructor Tegan

Tegan is the founder and instructor behind The Mat, a studio born from a deep love of movement and human connection. Tegan first found Pilates after an injury experience in 2014, and fell in love with the way this intentional movement practice transformed her body and mind. This led her complete her first teacher training in 2015, with further trainings and education. Her classes are known for being strong, inclusive, and creative, all delivered with warmth, humour and a down-to-earth energy that keeps clients coming back.

Her teaching journey evolved into starting Palmy Pilates in 2021, a mat Pilates business offering community classes in Palmwoods, Montville & Woombye. Despite pausing classes to welcome her two babies, her community would return and continue to grow whenever classes resumed.

It was a natural evolution to find a permanent home for her community and Pilates offerings, and when she stumbled across this intimate space with a breath-taking view, she knew it was the perfect fit. Alas, The Mat. studio was born in November 2025.
